Our Professional Process
A typical D&R project takes approximately two weeks from the initial removal to final reactivation, depending on the speed of the roofing work.
- Site Assessment & Documentation: We photograph and catalog every panel, inverter, and mounting component to ensure the system is reinstalled exactly as it was.
- Safe Shutdown & Removal: Technicians disconnect the system from the grid and carefully unmount all hardware, wiring, and conduit.
- Secure On-Site Storage: Panels are stored safely on your property—often in a garage—to protect them during the construction phase.
- Precision Reinstallation: Once roof work is cleared, we return to install the racking and panels. We often recommend upgrading racking components to maintain the integrity of your new roof’s warranty.
- Re-Energization & Testing: We perform a comprehensive system test to ensure all electrical connections are secure and your energy production is fully optimized.
- Workmanship Warranty: All of the work performed by Ailey Solar Electric, Inc. (“ASE”) is warrantied for an industry-leading 5 years not to include situations beyond ASE’s control, acts of God, or work or repairs performed by parties other than ASE. ASE is not responsible for any existing or future obstructions that may affect the performance of the systems. This workmanship warranty does not cover any response time guarantee or losses in production, net metering or SREC or other benefits or income.
- Insurance Coverage: Many homeowner policies cover solar D&R if the removal is due to a covered peril like hail or fire.
- Racking Warranty: We often use new mounting hardware for reinstallation because old parts may not be compatible with the new roof’s warranty standards.
- Professional Expertise: Solar systems are high-voltage power plants. Attempting a DIY removal can lead to electrical hazards, equipment damage, or voiding your home insurance.
