Take a moment today to help Illinois create 32,000 clean jobs per year! HB2607/SB1485 (or the Illinois Clean Jobs Act) is a bi-partisan bill, supported by the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition, that was recently introduced by state lawmakers in Springfield.
The Illinois Clean Jobs Act:
- Increases energy efficiency standards to 20 percent by 2025— a 50 percent increase in savings compared to what would otherwise occur based on current policies,
- Raises the amount of energy generated by renewable sources, like wind and solar, to 35 percent by 2030, up from the current standard of 25 percent by 2025, and
- Creates a market-based strategy aimed at reducing the amount of carbon pollution emitted by Illinois power plants, helping meet new standards recently announced by the U.S. EPA.
Our friends at the Illinois Environmental Council have made an easy way to send a message to your representative in Springfield (either a thanks for already co-sponsoring or urging them to do so). They also have a quick link on their website to look up your local legislators and their current position on the bill.
Thank you and keep an eye out for our hard-working team in the video!
